India delivers 12th shipment of humanitarian aid to Ukraine

As part of its continued efforts to assist the people of Ukraine during the ongoing conflict with Russia, India handed over the 12th shipment of humanitarian supplies to the European country on Monday.

The consignment comprised essential medicines and medical equipment including haemostatic bandages, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv said.

The shipment was handed over by Indian Ambassador to Harsh Kumar Jain to Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleskii Iaremenko who is in charge of Humanitarian Aid and European Integration.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Jain expressed his confidence that the assistance will help Ukraine’s people during this challenging time.

According to the press release issued by the Indian Embassy, Jain said that India’s humanitarian aid and support symbolise the “human-centric approach” of the country’s government, which is a fundamental tenet of India’s national beliefs and values that “the whole world as one family.”

Further commenting, he said that despite the current challenges, India is still committed to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) last month, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj made a request for urgent humanitarian aid in Ukraine. She also noted that India had sent 11 consignments totaling about 97.5 tonnes of aid to Ukraine and its neighbors, including Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, and Poland, over the previous six months.

Beginning on May 17, the Indian mission in Kiev began operations after temporarily moving to Warsaw (Poland) on March 13.
